Thursday, August 20

Well, after living at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor for two months, Norma has moved. She is now in what they call a sub-acute facility.

Her new address is:

Danto Health Care Center, Room 409

6800 W. Maple Road

West Bloomfield, MI 48322

This is quite a change for her, I think she will need lots of support and visitors right now.

The following link is to a map of where the center is located

  1. Well, Norma had another first today. She, Jim and I went shopping at Meijer's. Norma picked out two sweat outfits, sox and some other things. Janet and Paul were there when we got back from shopping so she had a nice visit with them also. She is making progress with her speech. She gets so agigated when she can't get the right words out but she usualy gets her meaning across. Go and see her. The visiting hours are open like the hospital. Check in at the front desk.

  2. How nice to hear that Norma was able to get out again for a little shopping and also receive visits from such caring people.
I am glad to hear that more progress is being made in the speech department. I can only imagine how frustrating it is to be going through all of this & not be able to talk about it.
Can anybody tell me if there is a phone # in the new place?
Norma, I hope you are getting comfortable in your new surroundings and finding the therapists to your liking. Our thoughts and prayers continue. Love you, Kimmie & the boys

  3. Hi Everyone! Thank you Colleen, Doris and Karen for the updates. Very much appreciated. When Paul and I saw Norma on the weekend she seemed disappointed that she would be having Speech and PT but not OT. Paul and I picked up some things that she can work on when she is not in session. The computer would be great...I hope someone has one to lend. If anyone has any OT "stuff" or has experience with OT and could spend time on it with Norma, I think she would welcome it with open arms. It's amazing the progress that Norma has made. I couldn't be more proud of her if I tried and I know that all of you feel the same. She inspires me daily. Bye for now, Janet

  5. (I finally got to visit with Norma on Sunday, Aug. 23. I went to St. Jos. Hosp. on Fri., not knowing she had moved to Danto the day before.) Norma, I know this move is a big adjustment for you, but I also know that you are determined to communicate & to live your life again. I hope the magnetic healing words, angel cards (words & more words) will be useful to you & the green FLA bear & 'bean dip' will remind you of the times we've spent, and will spend together again into our dotage. I love you so much, Girl Friend! Work hard, as you always do!, in your new physical & speech therapies. I'm back in FLA now--only had a few days up in MI--but I will see you again as soon as I can get back up there! XOXOXO Suzee
