Hello

Hello everyone,

I am Colleen Klaus, a good friend of Norma's. Jim and Kevin were kind enough to give me the privilege of posting updates on Norma's blog, so I will occasionally write and let everyone know how she is doing.

I visited Norma on Friday at Danto, and she is is making the adjustment well. Because of Norma's great determination, she is a wonderful example of the power of the human spirit. I am encouraged when I leave her. I encourage everyone to visit Norma, and bring some flowers to cheer her up and to brighten up her room. When you are there, look around the room. Maybe there is something you can bring to add more personality and warmth to the room for Norma.

Norma has less therapy at Danto; therefore, she has more time on her hands, so if someone has a laptop computer to lend her, or something interesting for her to do, I think this would be helpful. Norma does not have a telephone right now, but she is getting a cell phone soon, so you will soon be able to call her, which is also important for her to talk and keep in touch.

Most importantly, keep praying for her. By the way, my e-mail address is cklaus1@hotmail.com if you would like to communicate with me for any reason. Thanks, and I'll be keeping in touch.

Colleen

  2. I went last night to see Norma and her good friend Sue was already there chatting with Norma. Sue was sitting in Norma's wheelchair and Norma was sitting on the edge of her bed with her feet on the floor. Who shows up but Jim and Mrs. Wolford....Time for dinner. Sue and I get ready to leave and here is what I saw... Norma stood up on her own, swiveled her hips and plopped herself into her wheelchair. Sue and Mrs. Wolford stood by her just in case and yes Sue did steady Norma a little by her elbow, but basically Norma did it on her own. I had never seen Norma do this before, and it just blew me away. Way to go Norma! She is working at it so hard and we are all so proud of you, Norma. Thank you for making my day! I have enjoyed meeting all of Norma's friends, family and colleagues. Each person is wonderful and it is so clear as to why they are friends of Norma's. Bye for now, Janet
