Norma in Pink! Yesterday afternoon, Norma was moved to the Rehab floor, she is in room 430 phone 734-712-4631.
Norma had her first round of therapy and gets to wear a pink helmet to keep her safe in the event of a fall. I think someone needs to find an Elvis sticker to put on it.
This room should be permanent until she is released from the hospital. Oh, she is wearing people clothes now too!! She looks much more comfortable. I will be bringing her some yogurt tonight as we can bring in foods for her that she might like better than what is being served. They will label it and put in the fridge. Until she is eating more, she will continue to need the feeding tube.
Very soon we can put her in a wheelchair and take her outside to get some fresh air (needless to say she is very excited about that). I guess there is a very nice patio off of the cafeteria that has easy access. Later on, she will be able to have 1/2 day out of the hospital visits.
Therapy is in the morning and afternoon, so my lunchtime visits will most likely stop. The nurse said the best time to visit is in the evening. I had a nice long chat with the nurse, Marlyse, very nice person. I am sure she and Norma will get along quite well.
The flowers continue to come in. Andy, Norma said thanks for the orchid and a big thanks to Janet and Paul for their visit last night.
Here is a poor picture of her flowers and Jim modeling her pink helmet.
Pink helmets, people clothes and patio visits all sound like encouraging signs. I'm sure just getting a breath of fresh air will be helpful in the healing process. I can imagine that therapy will be hard work, but we all know that Norma is a hard worker. We continue our prayers for your complete recovery, Norma. We love you. ~Kimmie & the boys
ReplyDeleteNorma and Family,
ReplyDeleteIt is so encouraging! Norma's rehab has truly begun! I tried to post this before, but sometimes the blog won't take my message. One of last night's nurses told me that being on Norma's floor is her absolute favorite. I asked her "Why?," and she said that when people first come on the floor they are struggling , however, give them a few weeks and you can't believe the changes. She said,"It is so cool to see how well patients do here." That was great to hear. Norma, you are so loved and we are all behind you. We all know that this is very hard on you, but with your willingness and your dedication to those around you who love you I know that each day will bring positive change. Bye for now, Janet
Glad to hear you are starting your rehab Norma. Know what a hard worker you are and that you will do great. You have lots of love behind you. It will be nice to get some fresh air and different food as well. Keep up the good work -- Lots of love from California.

We need 3D flowers to attach to the pink helmet (maybe a 3D Elvis as well) to really spruce it up. The Farmington Gal's are so glad to hear about the forthcoming therapy sessions and the possibility of Norma going out and about! We love you Norma!
ReplyDeleteHey Jim you don't do Normna's helmet justice. Pink really your color. I so glad to hear tht Normna has made so much progress since Sunday. Hopefully the weather will warm up again and she can go out and get some fresh air and sunshine. Norma you are in my prayers daily. Love you. Mom W.
